Lynch honored by MAC West

Northern Illinois junior quarterback Jordan Lynch was rewarded Monday for his record-setting performance against Toledo by being named Mid-American Conference West Offensive Player of the Week.

While leading Northern Illinois to a 31-24 win over Toledo on Wednesday night at Huskie Stadium, Lynch completed 25 of 36 passes for 407 yards and three touchdowns. He ran for 162 yards on 30 carries to amass a school-record 569 yards of total offense.

Gronkowski out 4 to 6 weeks

Rob Gronkowski’s arm injury may not be season-ending, but it could be regular season-ending.

Multiple sources have since reported that Gronkowski suffered a broken forearm that likely will keep him out 4 to 6 weeks. CBSSports.com reported that he had surgery on the arm Monday.

Cubs re-signreliever Camp

The Chicago Cubs brought back free-agent reliever Shawn Camp on Monday on a 1-year, $1.35 million deal.

Camp, who turned 37 on Sunday, went 3-6 with a 3.59 earned-run average last year. His 80 appearances were tied for the major league lead.

DePaul offered United Center for free

United Center ownership – Bulls owner Jerry Reins-dorf and Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz – is offering DePaul free rent for 10 years and other perks to play their basketball games in their facility.

DePaul is still leaning toward building a new arena near McCormick Place.
