Rock Falls candidates events scheduled

ROCK FALLS – With the municipal election a little more than a month away, residents have two opportunities to meet Rock Falls candidates in upcoming weeks.

The Rock Falls Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Meet the Candidates Guest Bartending Night, from 6 to 8 p.m. March 15 at Long Shot Bar and Grill, 3312 W. Rock Falls Road.

There also will be a 50/50 raffle and food. Proceeds benefit the Rock Falls Chamber Ambassador’s scholarship fund.

Incumbent Mayor David Blanton and his opponent, City Clerk Bill Wescott, will attend, as will City Clerk candidates Pam Martinez and Edward Mulvaney.

Other candidates who would like to participate should register with the chamber office at 815-625-4500 by Monday.

A candidates forum, also sponsored by the chamber, will be held March 25 at City Hall, 603 W. 10th St. Doors open at 6 p.m., the forum begins at 6:30 p.m. and it will air live on Channel 5.

Confirmed attendees so far are Blanton, Wescott, Eric Arduini, a city clerk candidate, and Rock Falls High School board incumbent Howard Janssen.

Residents can submit questions for the candidates at michelle@rockfallschamber.com or Rock Falls Chamber of Commerce, 601 W. 10th St., Rock Falls, IL 61071, by March 20.

The election is April 9.
