Outdoor adventures: All systems go for outdoors show
Well it’s spring. In name, at least. It sure don’t feel like it, not at all. Just another curveball old Mother Nature snuck by us.
She’s got a great curve. A major-league one, for sure. Oh well. Odds say we will be enjoying some sweet outdoor weather – and very soon – so hang on a little bit longer.
This week, I wanted to shed some light on a developing major event coming to my hometown of Prophetstown, home of the Prophets.
In just 10 short months, our brand new school here on the banks of the Rock River will be transformed into a pure outdoorsman’s paradise. You heard it right: outdoor nirvana, right here in the Rock River valley. The show will run Jan. 25-26, 2014.
After a few months of meetings and approvals and contracts and on and on, we are a go for takeoff. Heck, we’ve already taken off. Busy, busy we have been sending vendor packets, developing floor plans, rallying support and attending other shows.
More than 100 vendors in one school, all selling outdoor products. Food? Oh yeah, there’ll be food, too, and entertainment. This thing is going to be awesome.
We might be in the early stages of the entertainment side of this thing, but we already have professionals in the catfishing and smallmouth bass fishing world lined up to do seminars.
Plus a great Saturday show on everything you need to know to take the dive into the world of trapping. Just think, it’s only March. We will be adding more and more entertainment as we go.
Vendors at the show will be selling everything from turkey calls to catfish sinkers to boats to guide trips and on and on.
With that being said, do you want to attend? Or do you want to be a vendor? How about a sponsor? Remember: Every dime raised at this event goes to the future of our athletic and academic success.
Now, you might think you’re not quite an outdoorsy-type product, but we also know that a lot of people – wives, for instance – get dragged to these things. So we encourage you to contact us, even if you’re not mainstream outdoor material. A few of the beaten-path products are good for the show, so contact us anyhow.
Call Drew Emery at 815-631-5342 or good old Cat Matt at 815-590-1469. You can also find us at prophetprideoutdoorshow.com, or like Prophet Pride Gills, Bills and Outdoor Thrills on facebook.
If you have questions, there will be a open meeting for the show at 7 p.m. April 10 at the unit office right on Route 78 in Prophetstown.
