Dixon’s strategic plan should start with a fresh slate of experienced, qualified candidates with management and leadership skills who can actually manage city government.
Just over 1,200 votes put the mayor back in office for another 4 years in 2011. Does Dixon not have way more than 1,200-plus voters who care about what happened to our tax dollars?
Now is the time for local patriots to start considering those among us qualified to lead Dixon and willing to run for office.
Have we become so complacent that someone can get away with this kind of fraud, and we’re not ready to stand up and fight for a change to responsible, effective management and leadership at Dixon City Hall? That’s what patriots do.
Citizens of Dixon need to get serious about what happened to millions of our tax dollars and take steps to replace the ineffective, inept mayor and long-term councilman who were at the helm for many years. The recent news story that another city employee has misused city funds begs the question as what tomorrow’s headlines will be.
The mayor and long-term councilman should have resigned a year ago, but neither has any intention of doing so. I cannot enumerate here all the mismanagement and leadership fiascos in the past year.
Enough is enough. City council meetings should be packed with concerned citizens who will question council’s activities at every opportunity.
The mayor’s answer to the city’s problems is for taxpayers to pay $31,400 to develop a strategic plan and offer leadership training with a 2-day retreat, possibly at Starved Rock State Park. The mayor was quoted as saying, “Most large, successful corporations go through processes like this.”
Dixon is neither large or a corporation whose shareholders foot the bill. These are taxpayer dollars he wants to spend, learning how to be a leader?
