STERLING – Postal carriers will collect food for local pantries May 11 during the 21st annual National Association of Letter Carriers food drive.

Residents are asked to leave nonperishable food items in or near their mailboxes for carriers to pick up. Food items also can be dropped off at local post offices.

More than 30,000 pounds of food was collected in 2012 in Sterling, Rock Falls, and Dixon.
