Consider the cause and effect of jobs

I was astonished to read in the Wednesday paper a supposition by a reader that consumers are the job creators [“Consumers who have money are the job creators,” The Reader’s Voice, May 15].

The author goes on to say business owners, large and small, do not create jobs.

Let’s examine the cause and effect of jobs.

To create or cause something requires a skill to make or design it. In regard to jobs, a business needs an entrepreneur, a risk taker, an employer who organizes and manages profits so the business, among other things, can pay its employees.

The effect is that people who are employed by a business are then able to spend their earned income on goods and services for their own personal needs.

Therefore, a consumer, by definition, uses things, as opposed to a business that produces things as well as jobs.

Cause and effect, a simple fact of life and business.
