Dolores Asp

OREGON – Dolores Owen Asp, 87, of Oregon, formerly of Dixon, died Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Oregon Healthcare Center. She retired from Sauk Valley Community College in 1990.

She was born Feb. 7, 1926, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of William and Ada (Thompson) Johnson. She married Lavell Owen on July 8, 1945, in Dixon. She later married Robert Asp on Aug. 9, 1991, in Litchfield, Minn. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1997. She retired from Sauk Valley College in 1990.

She is survived by her daughters, Delores Channell of Port Orange, Fla., Betty Dunne of Dixon, and Jeanette (Mike) Smith of Tacoma, Wash.; a son, Robert (Deb) Owen of Sterling; a sister, Gwenivere Brown of Lady Lake, Fla.; a brother, Gweldon Johnson of Zephyrhills, Fla.; daughters-in-law, Connie and Rose Owen; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Thomas and Patrick Owen; a sister, Marinetta Floto; brothers, William and Franklin Johnson; and a great-grandson.

A private graveside service will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon. Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
