Thanks, CGH, for unforgettable anniversary
We had been planning a lot of different ways to celebrate our 60th anniversary, but we did not plan on celebrating it at CGH.
My husband was hospitalized with acute dehydration following a bout of what we think was food poisoning, and while much improved, was still there on that special day. I was eager to see him, at least share a dinner with him.
When I drove into the hospital parking lot, I got out of my car and stepped down off a curb. My cane slipped into the grate, and I fell and hurt my hip. Before I could even catch my breath, hospital staff were running toward me and brought me a wheelchair.
I was worried that I might have broken my hip, so I listened to them when they urged me to get checked out in the emergency room. Luckily, there were no fractures; just a lot of bruises.
My daughter, Carol, who was with me at this time, told them about our anniversary, so I ended up getting a lot of hugs and best wishes and a wheelchair ride up to my groom’s room on the third floor. Once up there, we got even more hugs and best wishes.
The dietary kitchen personally brought up the meal we were going to share, and on the tray were two cakes. Each the size of a cupcake and each decorated like a mini wedding cake. They also, at their cost, added a basket of fresh-cut flowers to enhance the occasion.
My husband and I would like to thank the men and women who staff the hospital. From the emergency room to the dietary kitchen, their sincere care and thoughtfulness not only made my husband’s stay successful but helped us to have a wonderful 60th anniversary that we will never forget.
