Back in saddle again

Isure hope you all enjoyed last week’s break from the norm.

Or in other words, I hope you enjoyed 300 words of my daughter pickin’ on me.

I thought she did a great job, and anything to get her involved in the outdoors works.

As we speak, she is psyched for the upcoming co-ed fishing tournament to be held at the Glenn Miller Marina in Erie in just 1 short week (Aug. 24).

Then 5 weeks after that, she’ll be chasing old whitetails around during youth hunting season.

This week, I’d like to remind everyone here in the Rock River valley that the Prophet Pride Gills, Bills and Outdoor Thrills show is rapidly approaching.

If you have a contract with you and haven’t sent it in, you need to do so quick, fast and in a hurry.

There are a lot of great vendors and sponsors on board already, and we hope this turns out to be an awesome yearly event.

With the recent events in our little country town, coming together and working as a team to support our children’s future will be one more step in the healing process.

Just for a small glimpse of what you’ll see when you walk into the newly built school here in P-town the morning of Jan. 25 or 26.

Motorcycles and ATVs and jigs and baits and home fixings and taxidermy and boats and vinyl graphics and wheeewww – get the point?

If you want to be a vendor at the show, you need to act now.

If you are feel your products anyway link you to the outdoors in a positive way, please give us a call and let’s git ’er done.

Who knows what else may be going on in these two full gymnasiums we have available to us?

Could might oughta be a big ol’ bags tournament going on.

A whole sack full of awesome prizes being raffled off and given away.

Some totally awesome seminars, including two by myself.

A trapping demo, and an incredible smallmouth presentation to boot, and much more to be added.

There just might be the world’s foremost authority on morel mushrooms in the house, and there just might be live animals – lots of ’em.

Like I said, this is going to be neater than all get out, so get involved.

Not a better way I can think of to spend a day in late January.

As I part this week, a couple of small things to keep in mind.

We are in full summer pool now here on the Rock, so take a little extra time in areas you’re not sure of.

No need to go beating up that lower unit.

Also, the Mississippi River is absolutely on fire.

If you want to know what’s biting, I can sum it up for you in three words – all of ’em.

Reports of crappies, walleyes, catfish, bluegills and bass have just been pouring in.

So, if you’re a little leery of the lower water here, head west a few miles and give that a shot.

For more information on becoming a vendor at the Prophet Pride show in January, or for the upcoming co-ed catfish tourney in Erie, contact me at 815-590-1469.

Until then, y’all live like there’s no tomorrow, cause there’s no guarantee there is one.

Go Catfish!
