Orville D. Ohlwine
MILLEDGEVILLE – Orville D. Ohlwine, 87, of Milledgeville, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, in Dixon, after a long-term illness.
Orville was born Jan. 24, 1926, in Polo, the son of Oliver and Elizabeth (Barnes) Ohlwine. He joined the Army in 1951, and transferred to the Reserves in 1953. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Orville married Corrine Edna Swanson on Oct. 27, 1957, in Sterling. He was a member of the Milledgeville American Legion and a lifelong member of the Lutheran church.
Orville farmed until 1976, and worked for Kraft Foods for 20 years. After retiring, he was employed by the community fertilizer company. Orville enjoyed and will be remembered for his love of gospel music, family, farming, and the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Corrine Ohlwine of Milledgeville; two daughters, Florence (Brian) Miller of Leland and Violet Ohlwine of Milledgeville; one son, Arthur (Margaret) Ohlwine of Decatur; two sisters, Evelyn Shellhouse of Polo and Alma Bowser of Freeport; one brother, Orlan (Beverly) Ohlwine of Polo; six grandchildren, Ora, Elijah, Seriah, Josiah, Sylvia, and Amanda; and one great-granddaughter, Saya Ohlwine.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milledgeville, with the Rev. Christine Stinstra officiating. Full military honors will follow. Private burial, with full military honors, will be Monday at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling. McDonald Funeral Home in Milledgeville is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
