Habitat accepting applications

Published: Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

OREGON – Habitat for Humanity of Ogle County will offer an application seminar at 9 a.m. Nov. 16 at Stillman Bank, 1445 state Route 2 North.

Qualified people interested in the next home to be built in Oregon should attend.

Habitat for Humanity of Ogle County builds new homes in partnership with future homeowners. Upon completion of program requirements, they purchase the home at cost, with a no-interest loan.

The mortgage payment includes insurance and real estate taxes, usually around $500 to $550 per month.

To qualify, applicants must not own a home and need housing, be willing to help build a home – 200 hours of “sweat equity” per adult family member – and meet income guidelines based on family size and ability to pay the mortgage.

Everyone whose names would be on the mortgage should attend the seminar.
