needed for winter coats

STERLING –The Sterling Kiwanis’ Coats for Kids drive is underway.

There will be a fundraiser dinner Oct. 26 at the Sterling Moose Lodge, 2601 Lincolnway.

The social hour and a silent auction will be from 5 to 6 p.m., with a welcome and dessert auction at 6 p.m.

Dinner, entertainment, and a live auction will start at 6:45 p.m.

The Kosier Irish Clog Dancers will perform, as will a barbershoppers quartet. Tickets are $20 each, and can be purchased by emailing borah@comcast.net or calling Deb Kinnicut at 815-622-2839.

Money raised will go to buy winter coats for children in Sterling and Rock Falls.

School nurses will distribute $40 vouchers to qualifying students. For children not in school, call 815-622-2839. Parents and guardians will be able to use the vouchers at Kmart and Farm and Fleet in Sterling to choose the coat they want.

Donations are tax-deductible, and donors will receive a receipt.
