Sterling pub hits milestone

STERLING – The Palms Tavern, 1209 E. Fourth St., is marking its 30th anniversary. Manager Paula Schueler invites the public to stop in and celebrate with them. The Palms can be reached at 815-625-0912.

Transportation upgrade for Rochelle

ROCHELLE – Rochelle Municipal Airport broke ground Oct. 17 on a runway extension that will improve safety, and the region hopes, open some new economic development doors. The longer landing strip can possibly entice larger turbine and jet aircraft to use the airport. It will allow more planes to fly directly into the airport rather than having to stop at neighboring airports, a lure for businesses to locate near the city.

Tis the season for promotions

ROCK FALLS – The Rock Falls Chamber of Commerce is getting into the holiday spirit a little early as it gets ready for the 31st Hometown Holidays celebration. This time-honored tradition continues Nov. 21-24. The chamber encourages local businesses and nonprofit organizations to participate. Booth spaces, parade entries, and several other activities are available for promotional purposes.

Registration for activities can be done through Nov. 5. For more information about the event, including schedules and registration forms, visit www.rockfallschamber.com or call 815-625-4500.
