ROCK FALLS – Whiteside County pet owners with limited income can have their pets spayed or neutered at a reduced cost under a new program provided by Happy Tails Humane Society.

The program is for those who are enrolled in any of several Illinois public assistance programs. The surgery fees for cats are $45 for neutering and $70 for spaying; and $55 for neutering and $75 for spaying dogs, $85 for dogs over 50 pounds.

Clients will need to complete an application, which is available at the shelter, 1408 McNeil Road, and on the Happy Tails website, and provide proof of program enrollment and photo identification. Dogs must be current on rabies vaccinations. All surgeries and rabies vaccinations will be provided by Advanced Animal Health Center in Rock Falls.
