Watching the wheels
STERLING – Cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles will be on display Sunday at Sterling Moose Family Center, 2601 E. Lincolnway. Registration is from 8 a.m. to noon, with awards presented at 3:30 p.m. The event is free to attend. Food will be sold, and there will be raffles, a live auction and a 50/50 drawing.
Recital weekend at Centennial
STERLING – Centerstage Dance in Dixon will have recitals at 7 p.m. today and at 1 and 4 p.m. Sunday at Centennial Auditorium at Sterling High School at 1608 Fourth Ave.
On Saturday, students of Rhonda Hulteen at Woodlawn Arts Academy in Sterling will perform music recitals at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 16th Avenue and LeFevre Road in Sterling. Admission is free. Because of a scheduling conflict, the recitals were moved from Centennial Auditorium.
Fresh start for Fourth Fridays
STERLING – Fourth Fridays, with a new slogan, "Think Local. Buy Local. Be Local." and a new daylong schedule, is today. The new approach is intended to get greater participation from downtown businesses, nearly 30 of which are participating today. Rummage for deals in Dixon
DIXON – More than 50 locations are part of Dixon's Annual City-Wide Garage Sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Saturday. The sales, presented by Dixon Main Street, will go on rain or shine. Sales sites were listed in Thursday's paper, and are available at dixonmainstreet.com.
Dads, have a dance with your daughter
MORRISON – The ninth annual St. Mary's Father and Daughter Dance, "Denim & Lace," is from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. today at St. Mary Parish Hall, 13220 Garden Plain Road. Admission to the western-themed event is $20 at the door for all escorts, and free for all young ladies.
