Two hurt Monday in 2-vehicle crash

OGLE COUNTY – A Monday night crash at state Route 26 and Coffman Road sent two people to FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport with injuries.

Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies and Forreston police, fire, and emergency medical services staff responded to the scene at 9:29 p.m. An investigation revealed that a vehicle driven by Nicholas Colsch, 57, of Waukon, Iowa, was parked facing north in the middle of the intersection when it was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by Michael Bartelt, 46, of Rock City.

Bartelt was taken to the Freeport hospital by Midwest Medics with non-life-threatening injuries. Nicholas Colsch was taken to FHN by Forreston EMS for his injuries. Their conditions were unavailable Tuesday. Colsch was issued citations for driving a vehicle without lights when required and improper parking in the roadway.
